CHANEL Le Vernis Nail Polish Swatch Spam (Jade Rose, Django, Gold Shimmer and Splendeur)

Hello lovelies,

here’s a bunch of Chanel nail polish swatches. I wanted to post one swatch per day, but it would take ages to go through all of them, so here’s one group post. All nail polishes are polished in 2 coats, no top or base coat. Click on each photo in the gallery to enlarge it.

Let’s start with Django.

chanel django 3

Django is a pearly beige crelly with tiny goldish microshimmer, sheer and uneven in one coat, but opaque in two. I don’t really like how it looks on the nails – the shimmer is not too visible (and this is what gives the nail polish depth) – it’s just semi-frosty beige nude.

chanel jade rose 4

Jade Rose is a peachy nude beige with tiny rose microshimmer. Again, the shimmer can barely be seen on the nail. It is sheer in one coat, albeit very even. Two coat give prefect opaqueness. In my opinion, this one is more flattering against my skintone.

—-

Gold Shimmer is my first Chanel nail polish and for a long time it was my go to summer nail polish. It is a shimmery bronzey gold which looks very flattering with tanned skin. The formula is thin and sheer, 2 coats are semi-opaque. I love it and I have yet to find a dupe.

The last is Splendeur. It is a gorgeous crème fuchsia pink. This is one of the most pigmented nail polishes – one coat is enough. I adore this shade – I think that the fact that I have a bunch of similar shades says it all.

Which one of these is your favourite.

CHANEL Black Satin Swatch & Review

chanel black satin 4

FORMULA and APPLICATION: Thick, but easy to work it. This is easy one coater, although it applied a bit unevenly if I didn’t put enough polish on the brush.

COLOUR and FINISH: Super shiny deep black crème.

TAMARA’s COMMENT: This is the perfect, elegant nail polish. It is a classic and a must have in every nail polish collection.

CHANEL Le Volume de Chanel Mascara Review

chanel le volume de chanel

Hello lovelies,

let’s take a break from all the nail polish and switch to make-up instead :) Oriflame mascara in my last empties post reminded me that it’s been awhile since I reviewed a mascara. Today I went through my stash to pick my new mascara since I got rid of Oriflame and I picked a mini Chanel mascara.

It is Volume de Chanel  ($30) and I received this mini approximately a year ago with a magazine. I had a Chanel mascara before – it was Sublime de Chanel and I liked it as a nice daytime mascara. After wearing more natural mascaras for several years, I was looking forward to trying a volumizing one. However, while it is volumizing, Volume de Chanel won’t be entering my favourites mascaras list.

chanel le volume de chanel brush

Volume de Chanel has a silicone bristles brush – the bristles are shorter and there’s a lot of them. This means that the brush picks up a lot of product. While this is not necessarily a bad thing, in this cases it only helps to create clumps. It gives a volume, but the lashes aren’t smooth – mascara makes them look like I have a bunch of spider legs on my eyes.

Since the bristles are short, they often stick my lashes together so instead of a bunch separated lashes, I have three super thick lashes. This is easy to fix by combing the lashes (what I did).

I like the colour – it is very deep black.

The mascara isn’t waterproof, but it doesn’t smudge or flake off on me. Granted, I only wear mascara on the upper lashes, although I put it on my lower lashes for the purpose of review and didn’t get any smudging in the 6 hours I had it on.

To be honest, I think that there are better volumizing mascaras, at least for my lashes.

2013 Nail Polish Favourites (mainstream brands) – TOP 20

Hello lovelies,

here’s the second part of my favourite nail polishes in 2013. This list will feature mainstream brands and it will feature 20 favourite nail polishes (which are not necessarily launched 2013). Again, I didn’t assign the places (picking them out was hard enough), I’ll present them according to their price.

First, I’ll start with high-end polishes. This year I went on a Chanel binge and got from 7 to 27 Chanels. It is only natural that three of them are on the list. I also discovered Deborah Lippmann (I previously considered it an overpriced glitter) and Butter London (I need to find another EU-based store with free shipping since HqHair refuses to ship nail polish to Croatia).

Pictured above are: Chanel Taboo, Chanel Distraction, Chanel Bel-Argus, Deborah Lippmann Mermaid’s Dream, Deborah Lippmann Mermaid’s Kiss and Butter London Shag.

The next are mid-range, mostly US brands (Essie, for example). This year I got my first OPIs and one has already managed to end on the favourites list. I have also found a perfect, but discrete nail polish which can improve every manicure and an excellent New CID brand (also unavailable because HqHair refuses to ship polish to Croatia). There’s also Orly which has great formulation and huge bottles (which are impossible to spend in my case). Of course, here’s Color Club – I almost put both Halo Hues collections in my favourites, but I decided it would be a bit over the top so I randomly picked one to represent them whole.

Pictured are: Color Club Cherubic, Orly Hot Shot, OPI Germanicure, New CID Strawberry Gateau, Essie Using My Maiden Name, Essie The Lace is On, China Glaze Snow Globe.

The last are drugstore nail polishes. I have to admit that recently Croatian drugstores got some interesting nail polishes, like Depend holos. I could also have a whole category for Golden Rose, but I have picked only one to represent them whole. I’m glad to see that holo love is spreading – Oriflame have released Color Shine Palladium collection (scattered holos) and I hope it won’t take long for them to release linear holos, too. I also have to mention Eveline Mini Max Nail polish in what reminds me of Pantone’s color of the 2014 – Radiant Orchid.

Above are: Oriflame Fuchsia Palladium, Moment 201, Golden Rose Jolly Jewels 113, Eveline Mini Max 817, Eveline Color Instant 691, Depend Holographic 2032 and Ados 532.

You may have noticed that textured nail polish was a big hit in 2013 – almost every brand has their version of textures. I only have one which I love, but I’d like to try more to see how I really feel about textures.

What are your favourites?

CHANEL Le Vernis Tentation Swatch

chanel tentation bottle

Hello lovelies,

this polish is one of my favourite shades.

Tentation is warm fuchsia pink with a subtle cold pink shimmer. The shimmer is visible under certain angles and certain lighting. One coat is slightly sheer so I usually use two coats.

It wears on average for 2-3 days.

CHANEL Le Vernis Blue Boy Swatch

chanel blue boy bottle

Hello lovelies,

here’s a bit of Chanel while I’m away.

Le Vernis in Blue Boy was a part of Les Jeans de Chanel collection. It is a crème medium dark blue. It is very elegant and fall-appropriate.

The application is uneven in one coat, but two coats give a perfect glossy finish.

Here are the swatches made with 2 coats.

CHANEL Le Vernis April Swatch and Review

chanel april bottle

Hello lovelies,

we are well in fall and it’s time to pull out my fall polishes. Even though April was launched with Spring collection, it is a perfect fall colour in my eyes.

April is crème muted dirty berry red – the shade is really beautiful, complex and difficult to categorize. It is not red enough to be considered as red, nor pink nor berry – I think I should have an entirely new category for this shade. It is very opaque in one coat, but I like to add second for good measure.

The application is very even and I adore Chanel nail polish brushes which are very precise.

It is a great, not too flashy colour. I like to wear it during early fall as it is very rich, but not too vampy shade.

What are your favourite fall nail polish shades?

CHANEL Le Vernis Distraction Swatch and Review

distraction bottle

Hello lovelies,

today is the turn to swatch one of my favorite nail polishes: Distraction. The funny thing about this polish is that I have no idea when and where did I purchase it. Usually for every item in my collection I know when did I purchase it, why (reward or comfort), where and all other circumstances. But Distraction – it’s like it simply appeared in my nail polish box one day.

Distraction was a part of Roses Ultimes de Chanel collection. It is a warm pinky coral with a very subtle light fuchsia shimmer. The shimmer is very well hidden – it flashes only under bright light, but it gives a dimension to otherwise usual colour.

The polish applies evenly but even after two coats it is on the sheer side, so the swatches are done with three coats.

The polish wears for typical 2-3 days.

CHANEL Le Vernis Paradoxal Swatch and Review

chanel paradoxal bottle

Hello lovelies,

here’s a swatch of one really ancient nail polish: Chanel Paradoxal. It has very unique colour shifting abilities – from almost black grey to dark lavender purple with purple shimmer. I don’t like to wear it on cloudy days, as it doesn’t show its beauty then, but this is the perfect polish for sunny fall and winter days.

It requires two coats for complete opaqueness. The swatches are made without base and top coats.

What are your preferred fall nail polish shades?

Gradient Butterfly NOTD (with Born Pretty Store stamping plate)

butterfly notd 3

Hello lovelies,

here’s my first NOTD using the Born Pretty stamping plate* I received several days ago. I picked butterfly motif and decided to spice it up by making it a gradient.

I think I should have picked a lighter background color, but pure white shows off the gradient nicely. Of course, I couldn’t help myself and I had to add a sprinkle of holographic glitter :)

butterfly notd born pretty plate

The plate is marked with m76 and it is very well made. It comes in a plastic bag and it is protected with a blue foil which you have to remove prior to doing nail art. The motifs transfer easily and true to the picture. I plan to show you other motifs later next week.

For $0.99 this is a nice beginner plate which features a variety of cute motifs. The plate is available on Born Pretty Store.

Here’s a list of polishes I used for the nail art:

butterfly notd polishes

Golden Rose Classics Charming #01 (white)

Golden Rose Paris #98 (holographic glitter)

Essie Come Here (coral red)

Essie First Timer (turquoise blue)

Chanel Holiday (orange red)

Chanel Splendeur (fuchsia)

I wanted to stamp the butterfly on the tips of my nails, but they were bending when I pressed the stamper, so I put it lower on the nail bed.

Black NOTD (Chanel + Golden Rose)

black notd 2

Hello lovelies,

this is my recent NOTD. I’ve used Chanel Black Satin (black crème) and Golden Rose Jolly Jewels 101 (flaky). As you can see, I still haven’t mastered the proper clean-up. The black polish got under my cuticles and I couldn’t remove it. I hope that I’ll improve – either clean-up or application :)

Golden Rose #101 has huge flakes – mostly bright blue and turquoise, but with occasional purple/pink and gold flake. Sometimes the flakes tend to stick out a bit, so I had to put several coats of top coat to even it out a bit.

Still, I adore this combo (in spite of the bad clean-up job). I couldn’t stop looking at my nails :)

NOTD: Simple Beige and Golden Glitter Nail Art

notd beige

Hello lovelies,

believe it or not, this is my first nail art – the first time I did something other than simply painting the nails and putting a glitter top coat. Unfortunately, my nail art brushes haven’t arrived , so I used a nail art striping tape which was a bit too narrow so it looks slightly messy.

notd beige 2

I’ve used the following polishes:

Rimmel Lycra Pro in French Ivory – 2 coats over the whole nail.

Chanel Le Venis in Frenzy to make greige lines

Chanel Le Vernis in Beige to draw beige lines

L.A. Color Art Deco in 24K Glitter

CHANEL Le Vernis in Taboo Review and Swatch

chanel taboo bottle

Hello lovelies,

I hope you are having a nice day. I’m a bit busy, but I have found a time to polish my nails :) I used Chanel Le Vernis in Taboo which is probably one of the most intriguing shades I own.

chanel taboo polish swatch

Chanel polish retails for $27 and has 13 ml.

chanel nail polish taboo

Taboo is an eggplant purple base polish with reddish and blueish glitter. In the bottle, it leans onto the warmer purplish red side. On my nails, however, the blue sparkles come forward and it is definitely purpler. I have to say that I’ve never seen such a difference between the colour in the bottle and the colour on the nails. Still, I like both versions.

chanel taboo polish swatch

As for the consistency, Taboo differs from the majority of Chanel polishes I own. Usually Chanel polishes are on a thinner side, but Taboo is very thick and pigmented. One coat is enough (the swatches below are made with one coat and no base or top coat). However, it is very unforgiving if you make a mistake (I didn’t do the clean-up this time), but when I use it, it is very hard to clean.

CHANEL Le Vernis 667 Bel Argus Swatch and Review

chanel bel argus

Bel-Argus in the nicest and the most unique shade from Chanel Summer 2013 collection. It is an interesting medium dark duochrome metallic blue – under certain angles it flashes purple while under others it has a hint of green in it. I don’t have a dupe for it in my collection – the closest thing I have is one Ados nail polish, but this one is way too green to compare to Bel-Argus. (I’ll post the comparison later this month).

I was thinking about Azure but it seemed quite dupeable.

chanel belargus shade

As for the application – it is streaky. The streakiness isn’t as visible in reality, but close-up photos show it. This is not unusual for metallic nail polish, but I have hoped that Chanel’ll have better metallic.

Bel Argus is certainly two or even more coats nail polish. One coat is really sheer and uneven. On my photos you can see two coats, which make the polish opaque, but even a third one wouldn’t hurt.

The lasting power of the polish on my nails is typical – 2 to 3 days with base and top coat – nothing super long but neither too short.

How do you like this polish? Or are you more the fan of Azure?

SUNSCREEN F.A.Q. Part 2 + Recommendations

sunscreen avene clarins uriage

Hello, lovelies.

I hope you are well. Here is the second part of my brief sunscreen summary. The first part can be found here. This time I’ll give you recommendations for some of my favourite sunscreens. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Is there a safe way to tan?

As it is mentioned, even UVA rays cause cancer so tanning beds aren’t consider a “safe” way of tanning.

However, if you like tanned skin, the safest choice is a self tanner. The majority self tanners in stores are based on Dihydroxyacetonem, a chemical which in reaction with the dead skin cells on the surface creates skin darkening which lasts for approximately 5-10 days.

—-

What is the difference between physical and chemical sunscreen?

Physical sunscreens create a layer which deflects the UV rays from the skin. They are generally stable, but their consistency is thick and they often leave a white cast on the face. They are less likely to irritate the skin and therefore they are appropriate for persons with sensitive skin.

Physical filters are titanium dioxide (protects against UVB and a part of UVA spectrum) and zinc oxide (protects from full UVA and UVB spectrum).

Chemical sunscreens contain filters which absorb the UV rays. They are generally photostable (exception avobenzone), but they can irritate sensitive skin. They are more user-friendly because they can be put in various formulations.

The most common chemical filters are: Octylcrylene, Avobenzone, Octinoxate, Octisalate, Oxybenzone, Homosalate, Helioplex, 4-MBC, Mexoryl SX and XL, Tinosorb S and M, Uvinul T 150 and Uvinul A Plus

What is a SPF?

SPF (skin protection factor) is a number which indicates the amount of time we can spend on sunlight without getting burned. This amount of time depends on how your skin reacts to sun. For example, your skin burns after 5 minutes in the sun (no protection). If you use the right amount of SPF 15 sunscreen, this means that now you can spend 75 minutes out without getting burned (5 minutes * 15); for SPF 30 this is 150 minutes, etc.

SPF number usually indicates protection against UVB rays. UVA protection is on my sunscreens usually indicated just by saying UVA, and it generally is one third of UVB protection.

How much sunscreen do we need to apply?

Sunscreen is really not something you should save and for it the old “a little goes a long way” does not apply. You should apply 2mg of sunscreen for 1 cubic centimeter of your skin. Yes, this means that a 30ml bottle of sunscreen will last you less than a month if you use it daily on the face.

The following example will illustrate how smaller amount diminishes the protection. If you apply half of the recommended amount of SPF50 sunscreen, you won’t get SPF25 protection; rather, you’ll get one square root of SPF50 which is approximately SPF7.

How often should I apply sunscreen?

If you spend a lot of time outside, the sunscreen should be reapplied every two hours or every time after you get out of the water.

Some of my favourite sunscreens:

Chanel UV Essentiel (zinc based sunscreen)

Bioderma Sebium Mat (SPF 30, but works well under make-up)

Uriage Barie Sun Crème Teinte (nice replacement for a tinted moisturizer for lighter skin)

Eucerin Sun Crème SPF 50 (tinted sunscreen for darker skin)

Lavozon (Mueller brand) and Sundance (DM brand) sunscreens for body

Sundance SPF30 lip balm and Sundance SPF 50 stick lip balm

Avene Mineral sunscreen SPF 50 (excellent titanium dioxide waterproof sunscreen)

2013 MAKE-UP COLLECTION INVENTORY

stash 2013 picture 2

Hello dear readers,

finally here’s the post which had to be published a month ago: my make-up collection. When I find more time, I’ll post skincare and nail polish collection pictures too.

stash 2013 picture

As you know, I’ve been on various sorts of no-buy, low buy and project 10 pans which weren’t as successful as I’d like them to be. Still, compared to the older pictures of my stash, I feel like I haven’t purchased too much stuff the last year. I’m still continuing with a sort of low buy and I have to admit that seeing how much stuff I have, I feel like it’s less likely that I’ll buy more make-up.

—–

Nastaviti ću s projektom smanjene kupnje kozmetie. Moram priznati da, kad vidim koliko stvari imam, prođe me želja za kupnjom još kozmetike.

stash 2013 picture 3

So, here’s my complete make-up collection. As you can see, I’m quite a hoarder. I’ll just briefly mention the products – I won’t write the shade names, because a majority of the products were mentioned in my previous collection posts. If you want to know the exact shade of some product, please ask in comments.

Evo moje potpune kolekcije.

stash 2013 all

First we’ll start with eyeshadows. This is my favourite part of make-up and I have ammassed quite a collection. The first picture features my Guerlain palettes + Chanel and YSL palette.

Započeti ćemo sa sjenilima. Sjenila su moj najdraži make-up proizvod i imam ih poprilično. Na prvoj su slici Guerlain, Chanel i YSL palete.

stash 2013 es guerlain

This photo features all of my other eyeshadows (Clarins, Catrice, Inglot, Sisley, Chanel), UD Book of Shadows 2 and Benefit Celebutante palette.

Na ovoj su slici sva ostala sjenila (Clarins, Catrice, Inglot, Sisley, Chanel), UD Book of Shadows i Benefit Celebutante paleta.

stash 2013 es palettes

Next, we’ll continue with lip products. I prefer lipsticks to lip glosses and I almost never use a lip liner. On the far left are Sisley glosses, followed by Guerlain. Next are Sisley lipsticks, Guerlain and Benefit, MAC, Oriflame and finally three Rouge Automatiques. The lip liner is Essence.

—-

stash 2013 lips

I don’t have many face products. The foundations are Dior and Sisley, concealers Lancome and Oriflame. There is Inglot Duraline and two primers: Guerlain and Sisley.

Nemam puno proizvoda za lice. Puderi su Dior i Sisley, korektori Lancome i Oriflame. Tu se također nalazi Inglot Duraline i dvije baze za lice: Guerlain i Sisley.

stash 2013 face

Here are powders and highlighters. We start with Guerlain blush which I use as a contour/highlight, Meteorites from holiday collections, Sephora compact powder, more meteorites, cK loose powder, two pressed meteorites and Sisley loose powder.

stash 2013 powders

Blush is a product which, for some reasons, I have quite a lot of. First is Sisley, then Inglot and Dior (this one is impossible to spend), Guerlain and Sisley. In the second row are YSL and Guerlain bronzers.

Rumenilo je proizvod kojeg imam poprilično, iako ni sama ne znam kako. Prvo je Sisley, zatim Inglot i Dior (ovo je rumenilo nemoguće potrošiti), Guerlain i Sisley. U drugom redu nalaze se YSL i Guerlain bronzeri.

stash 2013 blush

Here are eyeliners and other eye products. There is Chanel Le Sourcil de Chanel, Guerlain eyeliners (liquid and loose), Oriflame mascara and Essence eyeshadow base plus other eyeliners (Essence, Guerlain, UD, Givenchy, Sisley, Sephora)

stash 2013 eyeliners

In the end here are make-up samples (foundations and primers mostly).

Popis završavam s uzorcima (uglavnom puderi i baze za lice).

stash 2013 makeup samples

Well, that would be it. I do have quite a lot of stuff, but I try to use all of it (of course, not at the same time). I generally create “looks” in which I rotate different products. Anyway, I hope you liked the post :)

Have a great weekend.

Love, Tamara

Voli vas,

Tamara

FINISHED! October Edition

This October was really productive. The stars have aligned and I have managed to spend several make-up full sizes, including a mascara. I’m really happy for it because I got a bunch of skincare this month too, so this balances it out. I’m also waiting an Oriflame order, so this will mean a bunch of new stuff, too.

As I have mentioned several times, this year I’m planning on getting a decent camera around Christmas. I’m currently taking photos with a 12 year old digital camera and I really need an upgrade. I really hope that I’d be able to get a decent DSLR for under $1000.

I’m also saving to get the driver’s licence in spring. As far as I know, getting the licence in Croatia costs around $1500 (if you don’t fail). I had no need for it because there is a good system of public transportation where I live, plus I hate driving, but many jobs require having a licence, so I think it is a high time I get one as soon as possible.

These are the reasons why I probably won’t buy much in December – I’m considering getting either Chanel or Guerlain holiday eyeshadow quad, maybe Guerlain Liu palette and some MAC product if I go to Vienna or Budapest (where the closest stores are).

But, no more talking about purchases – let’s see the items I’m saying „Goodbye“ to.

MAKEUP:

Oriflame Wonder Lash Intense Mascara. This is a nice mascara that separates the lashes well, but doesn’t do much for the volume. I won’t repurchase it.

Oriflame Visions Fresh Face Foundation in Lindsay and Lucy (sample). This foundation was discontinued a long time ago, but I have found the samples and I couldn’t resist to try it. It smells awkward. The coverage is medium, but the foundation is not longwearing. It blends nicely into the skin.

Chanel Rouge Allure Laque in Santal. Well, it was about time to say „Goodbye“ to Rouge Allure Laque. This lipstick is very pigmented – only one thin coat is enough for a complete opacity. Santal is my perfect nude shade.

Sisley Instant Perfect Primer (sample). A lovely primer. I already have the full-size.

Oriflame Studio Artist Foundation. For the price, this was a very good foundation. The coverage is light to medium and it gives a healthy skin glow effect.

Guerlain Kiss Kiss Baby in Rosy Nude. One of the best tinted lip balms ever. A shame that they are discontiuned.

Benefit High Beam (GWP). At first I admit that I wasn’t a fan of High Beam, but when I started using it more intensely, I liked it a lot. Since Benefit is no longer available in Croatia, I’ll have to find something similar.

 ————-

SKINCARE:

Sisley Eye Contour Mask (sample). An excelent mask – a saviour for the dehydrated eye-area.

Sisley Soapless Facial Cleansing Bar. It took me almost a year and a half to spend one bar, by using it once per day, plus once per week as a brush cleanser. I love it – it cleanses skin (although it doens’t remove make-up) without drying it out.  I’m already using a back-up.

Decleor Aroma Solutions Nutri Smooth Lipstick. A nice lip balm, but I think I’m ready for a change.

Sisley Floral Toning Lotion (GWP). Excellent toner.

Bioderma Sensibio Eye Cream. A very nice starter eye cream, but I feel that I need more moisture than Bioderma offers.

Sisley Lyslait (GWP). Excellent cleanser.

Sisley Tropical Resins Complex (sample). A nice mattifying moisturizer – leaves me matte without being too drying on my skin during summer. In fall, it becomes slightly too drying.

Sisley Hydraglobal (sample). A nice summer moisturizer. It is not moisturizing enough for drier skin types.

Sisley Global Perfect Pore Minimizer (sample). Works good as a primer underneath the make-up, but it is nothing special on its own.

Declaré Hydro-energy Cream. A nice moisturizer. Possible repurchase.

——-

 BODYCARE, HAIR, FRAGRANCE:

Oriflame Perfect Body Anti-Cellulite Scrub. The worst scrub ever. This, in fact, is a salt mixed with mineral oil and some fragrance. Whenever I’d use it, my skin would be irritated by the salt and the bath-tub would be completely greasy. I’m really not in the mood for scrubing the bath-tub every time I use it.

Moschino I Love Love EdT (sample). Unremarkable.

Yves Rocher Jardins du Monde Fleur de Tiare Shower Gel. A nice, moisturizing shower gel.

Nivea Long Repair Shampoo (GWP). A decent shampoo but I probably won’t repurchase.

I’ve also thrown out three nail polishes: Catrice limited edition in En Vogue, Carla Cosmetics and Rimmel Grape Sorbet. Catrice is a horribly thick and quickly chipping mess, Carla Cosmetics is super sheer and gritty and Rimmel is dried out.

What products have you spent recently? Please share in the comments.

Thank you for reading.

P.S. My 500th post :)

SISLEY and CHANEL Shopping

Hello everybody.

Since I’ve named this week Sisley week, it should only be appropriate to post another shopping. Other than Retinol and Glycolic acid creams + mascara and other products I have no back-up of (and maybe Chanel or Guerlain holiday quad), I think I’m done for this year. Some people really shouldn’t be allowed to manage money or credit cards, lol. Although, I wonder who could miss such a bargain.

Anyway, one of the perfumery chain had a 20% off of everything and they also offered a GWP with Sisley skincare purchase (and I’m a sucker for both Sisley and their GWPs). I got 4 GWPs in total (all four had the same products) – 3 for buying the products and 1 when I exchanged my points.

Well, I got the following products.

- Sisley Eau Efficace Gentle Make-Up Remover (I got is for $90, full-price is $120). I’m close to finising Bioderma Micelle Solution, and from the product description, Eau Efficace seemed like a Sisley version of Micelle water so it was a logical choice. Another thing that talked me to purchase it is how the water is dispensed (I’ll describe it more in my review).

- Sisley Ecological Compound Discovery set (I got it for $105, the full price is $145 ).

I’ve already used one bottle which I liked enough to buy another one. I’ll review Ecological compound during the next month because I want to remind myself why I liked it so much.

Basically, this set is worth almost double its full price if you count the value of the deluxe samples you get with it (10 ml of All Day All Year, 15 ml of Express Flower Gel and 5 ml of Eye and Lip Contour Balm).

- Phyto Lip Gloss in #3 Rose ($40, the full price $50). This is the new, fall launch and this beautiful pink with a hint of coral was on my wishlist ever since I’ve seen it.

- Hydrating Longlasting Lipstick in L9 ($44, the full price $55). The lipstick was on a whim purchase. It is another warm pink with a hint of coral shade which reminds me of my YSL Rouge Pur Couture in Pink Dahlia.

The GWPs contained the following products:

30 ml of Floral Toner

30 ml of Lyslait

10 ml of All Day All Year

10 ml of Black Rose mask

8 ml of Soir de Lune Body Lotion (I wonder if they’d ever stop giving this)

3 ml of Sisleya Radiance Concentrate

5 ml of Instant Perfect Primer

2 ml of Skinleya foundation

This shopping was a total bargain. For the total of approximately $280 I have spent on Sisley, I got additional over $1000 worth products, out of which 80% are my favourites and the rest are the products I’ve wanted to try for ages.

However, this means that besides the essentials, I shouldn’t purchase much more.

I have barely put my collection back under control and this has set me back for several months.

The last purchase is from Chanel. Even though I’m disappointed with how long (or better, how short) the Illusion d’Ombre eyeshadow lasts, I got another one. Currently my days are very busy and I appreciate every second of sleep, so my make-up routine is minimized. For that reason I got the shade Emerveille (pearly pink), so that I can only slap it on the lids, without bothering with primers and zillion other shadows.

Since it was suggested to me that I stored Mirifique in a wrong way, I’m storing Emerveille on the lid from the beigning. After six months I’ll update if this has taken any effect.

As for Mirifique – I put a drop of Duraline in it every time I use it and it works that way, although the shade is not as dymensional – there is no silvery sparkle.

Thank you for reading :)

CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Compact Swatches

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Compact foundation replaces the old Teint Innocence compact foundation. It is a cream foundation which promises fresh, moisturized skin. The foundation is intended for those with normal or dry skin. It contains Vitamin E, antioxidants and SPF 15.

It comes in a 12 grams refillable compact. The full price of the compact is 48,90 euros, while the refill costs 36,90 euros.

Several months ago I have swatched all the shades of Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Compact foundation available in Croatia.

Since I don’t think I’ll ever try the foundation, here are only the swatches. I haven’t even tried the foundation on the face at the counter, I can’t say much about its properties. It seems very creamy, blendable, but the coverage appears light.

The foundation is swatched from the darkest (left) to the lightest shade (right). You can click on the picture to englarge it. These are the shades available in Croatia. Depending on the country, the shade selection may vary.

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Compact in 50 Beige –dark, neutral to yellow undertone

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Compact in 42 Beige Rose – medium dark, strong pink undertone

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Compact in 40 Beige – medium dark, neutral to yellow undertone

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Compact in 30 Beige – light/medium, neutral to yellow undertone

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Compact in 22 Beige Rose – light medium, pink undertone

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Compact in 10 Beige – light, neutral to yellow undertone.

If I had to pick one, I’d go with the shade 10 Beige, although even this one would be a match only during summer, when I get a bit of tan.

CHANEL Illusion d’Ombre in Abstraction and Vision Swatch

Here is the last part of Chanel’s Les Expressions de Chanel collection swatches.

You can find the swatches of the quads by clicking on the name of the each quad: Eclosion, Intuition, Variation.

Abstraction is a rich pomegranate red with a metallic sheen.

Vision is shimmery gold.

Out of these two shades I prefer abstraction – it is pigmented and can be applied in even, thin layers. If Vision is applied a thin layer, it becomes almost tranparent and all you get is gold shimmer.

Also, Abstraction feels more creamier and smoother.

Now, onto the bad (even thought this might not be the issue with these, but I feel that I should mention it).

As you know, I have Illusion d’Ombre in Mirifique (shimmery black) and not even a year later, it is almost completely dry. I really take care for my make-up and I have never left it sit open. Whenever I use it, I dip the brush in and firmly close the jar. I keep it in cold and dry place. However, It is practically dry. I can get a bit of usage if I really dig the brush in, but even then, the majority of the product simply falls off the brush when I try to apply it. Currently, I’m using it with Inglot Duraline, which facilitates the application, but I don’t think that Chanel product should last for less than a year.

This is just my experience with Illusion d’Ombre. I have bought it the moment they came out and maybe they have changed the formulation, so the new one won’t have that problem.

I, however, am weary of purchasing any more Illusion d’Ombre eyeshadows.
