CHANEL Ombre Essentielle #90 Fauve Review and Swatch

Fauve is the second eyeshadow from Chanel L’Ame d’un Regard collection (the other is Twilight). The eyeshadow has 2 grams and it retails for 26 euros.

Please note that I have only tested this eyeshadow at the counter so I won’t comment on how longwearing it is.

Fauve is a greyish purple with satin finish. I’d describe it as a warmer, slightly lighter and less frosty version of Urban Decay AC/DC eyeshadow (from Book od Shadows vol.2). I believe that the shade is universally flattering and I’d pick it this instant if I didn’t have AC/DC.

The eyeshadow texture is extremely soft and silky. The shade Fauve is very pigmented and easy to blend.

If I had to choose betweeen Fauve and Twilight, I’d pick Fauve because of its overall quality, which surpasses Twilight for sure.

CHANEL Ombre Essentielle #89 Twilight (L’Ame d’un Regard LE) Review and Swatch

This eyeshadow is a part of Chanel L’Ame d’un Regard Collection.

It is the same size as all other Chanel mono eyeshadows (2 gr) and it retails for 26,5 euros.

Please note that I have only tested this eyeshadow at the counter so I won’t comment on how longwearing it is.

Chanel Ombre Essentielle eyeshadows are, unlike the quads (euro version), very silky and they apply evenly.

Twilight is a baby pink shade with silvery shimmer. The pigmentation is very good, but since the colour itself is light and complimentary to my skintone, it doesn’t show as good as it should on the swatch.

The shade Twilight is very similar to Urban Decay Sphynx (from Book of Shadows vol.2), but Sphynx has a lot of multicoloured chunky glitter. Chanel #89 Twilight is more subtle and the shimmer simply „melts“ into the colour, so I don’t believe that there would be a shimmer fallout. I’d say that Twilight is definitely the more wearable version of Sphynx.

CHANEL Sublime de Chanel Mascara Review

Some days ago I saw a woman in the tram and I swear that her lashes were at least an inch long. At first I didn’t believe that they are natural, but since she wasn’t wearing any mascara I could see that they were real. This was enough to make me obsess about long eyelashes so I’ve decided to find some lengthening mascara.

I’ve already been writing about Chanel L’Ame d’un Regard Collection which is available in Europe since February. The only item I’ve purchased so far is Sublime de Chanel Mascara in Deep Black. 6ml retail for 30 euros.

Sublime de Chanel is first and foremost a lengthening and curling mascara. Shade Deep Black is a very intense true black shade.

The mascara has a plastic/silicone bristles brush which is good at separating and defining lashes without sticking them together.

Sublime de Chanel doesn’t flake or smudges. I’ve tested it doing exercises and sweating a lot and yet the mascara hasn’t budged.

The mascara is indeed lengthening an it makes my lashes look considerably longer (but they are still not an inch long). I usually don’t curl my lashes because they are naturally slightly curvy, but the mascara didn’t straighten my lashes. However, I don’t know how will it react if you put it on the curled lashes. Since this is not a volumizing mascara, I didn’t expect volume at all, but my lashes did get a slight volume.

Sublime de Chanel is the most appropriate as an everyday mascara. It is natural looking enough so it won’t be over the top and you can combine it with a more volumizing mascara to get more dramatic look.

CHANEL Les 4 Ombres in #29 Lagons (LE L’Ame d’un Regard Collection, Spring 2011)

As I’ve posted yesterday, Chanel has launched another spring collection along with Les Perles de Chanel collection. I’ve prepared several swatches. Please, note that this review will be based only on the testing I did at the counter, so I won’t rate the product. I also cannot say anything about staying power, since I didn’t wear it long enough.

I’ve tried Les 4 Ombres eyeshadow quad in the shade Lagons. The product contains 1,2 grams of eyeshadow (European version) and it retails for 47 euros.

Lagons contains these shades: light baby blue, medium dark greyish blue, dark royal blue and medium dark baby blue. I’ve swatched the European version. The three lighter shade have a very tiny silvery microshimmer and the darkest shade (royal blue) has a bigger blue shimmer particles.

The texture of the eyeshadows is very silky and smooth. The pigmentation is average – on the swatch I applied three coats. Whan I’ve applied the first coat, it went patchy and uneven. You have to blend it, but the eyeshadow will look very sheer. For more intensity, you have to apply second layer, blend it and then apply more if you’d like even more intensity. The two shades on the right were the easiest to apply, the top left shade was a little chalky. Although the bottom left shade is gorgeous (I think it is the prettiest shade in the quad), it doesn’ t apply evenly.

Overall, if you are into blue shades and you like Chanel quads, this quad might be worth purchasing.

CHANEL Ombres Perlées de Chanel Review and Swatches (Spring 2011)

Yesterday, I gave a preview of my new Chanel Ombres Perlees de Chanel eyeshadow palette. As I’ve promised, today I’ll give you a full review. I’ve also taken a lot of pictures to illustrate how, depending on in which condition the picture was taken, the eyeshadows appear to look.

CHANEL Ombres Perlées de Chanel Preview (Spring 2011)

Yes, I finally got it. Ombres Perlees de Chanel, the most coveted item from Chanel Spring collection is finally mine.

This post will just be a quick preview, the real review will follow tomorrow. I’ve made a quick swatch, but it is night here, and the light is horrible. Nevertheless, the swatch is made with only a light swipe of finger (this is why the shadow seems very sheer). Tomorrow, I’ll make a comparison between wet and dry application, as well a more in-depth review.

But for today, just enjoy the pictures:-)
