Having head full of beautiful shiny hair can add greatly to your beauty. Knowing this you probably take time to care for it and style it so that it looks good and is more manageable. Unfortunately many of the things that we do to our hair can cause it to break, get dry and even fall out. Here are a few things that many women do that will cause damage to their hair.
1. Use Hot Styling Appliances
If you use a blow dryer, hot curlers or a flat iron to style your hair once in a while that’s ok. However if you style your hair with one of these heated appliances two or three times a week then you’re exposing your hair to a lot of heat. This will inevitably cause your hair to get dry and become brittle so that it breaks more often.
2. Chemical Straightening
Sure chemical processes such as the keratin or Japanese straightening treatments make you look as if you stepped out of the hair salon every day for a few months. However, they contain some highly dangerous chemicals in them that will eventually cause some of your hair to fall out. If that’s not enough warning for you, then you should also consider that these chemicals also restructure your natural hair so once the effects of the treatments wear off who knows if your natural looking hair will ever be the same again.
Unless you’re using a natural hair dye, you’re bombarding your strands with chemicals that strip your hair of moisture when you color your hair. The problem with this is that now your hair and your scalp will become dry, dull and weak. If you’re not willing to use a natural dye then be sure to use shampoos and conditioners that will work to nourish your hair and take it easy how often you style your hair.
There is no faster way to make your locks dry and brittle than leaching it. Some people recommend using hand-fulls of highly moisturizing conditioner but truth be told the only way to save your locks from the effects of bleach is to stop bleaching and wait for your hair to grow it out. It’s a very long process but at least you’ll have healthy hair.
5. Over Washing Your Hair
When you wash your hair too much you strip your hair of its natural moisture. In reality all you have to do is shampoo your hair twice a week to keep it clean.
If you find that you’re losing a lot of hair or that your strands are very dry take a break from these treatments. It may take a while but you’ll notice a change for the better.
