As I was finishing Avene Eye Contour cream, I have started to look for something new. I grabbed Bioderma Sensibio without giving it too much thought – somehow I’m not sure whether I want a highly moisturizing cream or an anti ageing cream.

I’ve been using Bioderma for 2 months so far.

The cream comes in a 15ml plastic tube and it retails for around $12. The cream is scentless.

The cream doesn’t make any fancy promises, there aren’t any exotic ingredients – just a plain cream.

The cream is soothing and slightly moisturizing, but I still have to use it twice per day.

The texture is very light, gel-like. You only need a tiny amount (the size of a rice) as it spreads easily. It sinks in almost immediately, so this might be a good choice if you are looking for a cream that you’ll put on in the morning before applying make-up.

I haven’t experience any negative effects – I’m wearing contacts and the cream hasn’t irritated my eyes.

I’d recommend this cream to young girls who have no issues with eye-contour skin, but they would like to use something. I sometimes feel that I could benefit of a more moisturizing textre. As I’ve mentioned before, it might be a good under-make-up cream, too.

Bioderma Sensibio Eye Cream INGREDIENTS:

Water (aqua), glycerin, dimethicone, polyehtylene, tridecyl trimellitate, caprylic/capric triglyceride, isostearyl alcohol, butylene glycol cocoate, fructooligosaccharides, mannitol, xylitol, caffeine, sodium hyaluronate, glycyrrhetinic acid, rhamnose, laminaria ochroleuca extract, acrylates/c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, pentylene glycol, caprylyl glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, disodium edta, sodium hydroxide, ethylcellulose

My main skin problem are pores – both on the cheeks, forehead and nose: they are absolutely huge and impossible to cure, as I am genetically predisposed (thank you a lot, dad!). There are also blackheads on the nose.

Another interesting thing about my skin is the fact that on my forehead there are around 30 pores lined up in a couple of centimetres long horizontal line, which look like a huge wrinkle. I don’t think Botox would help with these

As for my skincare routine, I’m going with the basics. During my teens I have used only prescription based creams (which were effective against acne, but very drying). Then I have transferred to Avene skincare – the Cleanance line. Avene was good, but it didn’t help much with the dryness. At that time, I have started to research skincare and its ingredients and I’ve had a little natural phase (jojoba oil – the worst thing ever). In the end, I have come up with relatively simple routine that works for me.

Another thing I have to add is that I only cleanse face once per day: in the evening. When I washed face in the morning too, my skin was very irritated and dried out. So my AM routine rounds up to the following:

a) nothing

b) makeup products and

c) sunscreen (if I’m going out)

d) mattifying cream

The routine:

Dior Gentle Cleansing Oil

Sisley Soapless Cleansing Bar

Olea Fresh Balance moisturizing toner

Garnier Essentials eye make-up remover

I usually remove make-up with Dior Oil and then use Garnier eye make-up remover, in case the oil didn’t totally remove my make-up. I skip this step if I didn’t wear any make-up.

In the evening I cleanse with Sisley bar cleanser, followed up by Olea toner.

The night time moisturizer I currently use is not on the picture. I’m tying to spend some samples, so I’m currently spending 8ml samples of Sisley Crème Reparatrice.

I use Olay Complete and Lancaster Precious Sun instead of my day-time sunscreen whenever I go out in the sun. I use Olay when I’m going to sweat more (as it seems more heavy) and Lancaster on other days. I use special, high SPF sunscreen for the beach.

My current eye cream is Bioderma Sensibio (I have spent Avene).

Sisleya Global cream is for the days when my skin feels particularly parched. It is very good as an instant cure. On the picture is 5ml GWP (the full size is 50ml).

Sisley Tropical Resins Complex is my to-go moisturizer underneath make-up or if I want matte skin.

From time to time, I add some products to my routine (twice or thrice per week). Usually once per week I cleanse my face, exfoliate it with Clerasil exfoliating pads, without rinsing, take a bath, so that the AHA can work on my skin, wash it off with a toner and follow up with Sisley Gel Express aux Fleurs moisturizing mask. Once or twice per week (depending on how much make-up I wore) I exfoliate with Sisley Crème Gommante and follow with Tropical Resins Mask (this one is new addition). From time to time, whenever I feel that my eye area is too dry, I apply Sisley Eye Contour Mask.

Body care:

I despise body lotion, but I’m still using some:

Sephora Sweet Cake body lotion (very good formula, I’ll get other scents).

L’Occitane Pivoine Flora Body Lotion

Avene Body Oil (horrible)

In the shower I use L’Occitane Shower gels. I always buy travel sizes as I like to change scents and I don’t want to have a huge heap of full-sized, half spent shower gels in rotation.

I love snow, but this white monotony has started to bore me to death. I can’t wait for spring and summer to colour up my life.

Stay well

Claimed to be their most famous cream, Crem Reparatrice retails for $185 for 50ml jar. Since its major claims are that it protects and repairs skin damaged from sun and wind exposure, I thought this would be the right time to test it.

So far I have used up two samples of 4 ml which totals to 8 ml of the cream. These two samples lasted for approximately month and a half of once per day usage.

First, I’d like to describe the scent. This is one of the most pleasantly scented Sisley creams – the scent reminds me slightly of a Coca Cola mixed with lemon (it’s weird, but this was my first association). The scent disappears upon application.

The consistency is thicker – it is definitely not one of those „a little goes a long way“ moisturizers. It sinks into the skin relatively quickly, but I need to use a greater amount compared to other, lotion-like creams.

As for its efficiency, I think that saying the cream repairs the skin is going a bit too far. However, it is one of the best winter-time moisturizers I have encountered so far (keep in mind that I have dehydrated oily skin). It works great for me, but I don’ t think it will be enough for severely dry skin.

The cream doesn’t clog my pores. I haven’t noticed any other changes on my skin after a month of usage besides more moisturized skin and no flakes.

To conclude, Creme Reparatrice is good, but not $185 good.

Sisley Creme Reparatrice INGREDIENTS (click on the picture to enlarge):

Sisley Blush Brush is a slanted brush made of natural hairs. It costs $65. The brush comes in a transparent plastic bag with a plastic brush cover to protect the hairs.

When it comes to make-up brushes, I’m not very into high-end. All the brushes I have are in drugstore price-range and none was more expensive than $15.

I got Sisley Blush Brush as a Christmas present, after whining for ages that I need a decent blush brush. Up to then I either applied blush with Avon brush (too wide) or with the tiny applicators that I got with my Guerlain blushes. I specifically requested a slanted brush – it seems that this type of the brush is the perfect shape to apply blush on my cheekbones.

Now, back to the Sisley brush.

I couldn’t find what the handle is made of, but based on how it feels under my fingers, I’d say it’s a black plastic or wood. The ferule is a gold-coloured metal. The brush is made of goat hair.

I still can’t say whether the brush is really worth the price. The hair is not scratchy, but I wouldn’t mind if it were a tiny bit softer.

The brush is around 16,5 cm long, while the length of hairs varies from 3,5cm to 2 cm.

My only big issue with this brush is that, when washed, it leaks black paint. Granted, the water is just a shade or two greyer, but I find any colour leaking unacceptable for a high-end brush. I have washed it several times and I still see some colour leaking.

The brush didn’t shed a hair. I’ve been using it for over a month, washed it once or twice per week and the brush still hasn’t lost any of its hair.

Howeverm I advise you not to throw the plastic bristle cover. It seems that the brush might loose shape quickly if you do not keep the bristles covered to maintain the shape.

The brush picks the colour pigment well. Since the bristles are not too soft, it can pick up the harder blush texture (for example, the shimmering side of Diorblush, which has much harder texture than the non-shimmering side). If the blush you are using is very soft in texture (for example Guerlain Blush 4 Eclats), just tap the blush lightly with the brush; otherwise the brush will pick too much product. As I’ve mentioned before, the brush shape is ideal for my cheekbones, the brush applies blush perfectly and it blends it easily.

All in all, I’m satisfied with this brush. I expect it to last for at least 10 years (if my cheap Avon brush managed to last so far, Sisley should too). Maybe I’ll get more Sisley brushes in the future – I have my eye on Eyeshadow, Kabuki and Powder brush, as they seem resonably priced compared to other brushes of this range.

My brush collection varies in price: there are expensive high-end brushes next to cheap drugstore one (and I don’t see much difference in quality).

I take care a lot for my brushes – the oldest one in my collection is 10 years old and it is still good as new (even better). I wash them once per week (depending on how much make-up I do that week) with gentle, no-silicone shampoo in lukewarm water.

Currently I have 4 face brushes (but looking to expand it), 11 eye-brushes (not counting the applicators I got with the eyeshadow palettes) and 1 lip-brush (don’t need more).

FACE BRUSHES:

1. Avon brush. This is the oldest one (10years old) which I got when I was still in primary school. I’ve never had any issues with shedding or leaking dye. The hair is synthetic and I think it cost me around $3. However, because of its age, the ferrule doesn’t stick to the brush handle as well – you can feel it moving. Today, I use this brush to apply bronzer – the size is ideal and it picks up the perfect amount of the product. Also, sometimes I use it for a loose or compact powder or powder highlighter (like Meteorites) when I only want a light layer.

2. Sisley Blush brush. I’ll review this one soon. This is an angled blush brush. It is very soft and the size fits perfectly on my face.

3. Sephora #45 Mineral Powder brush. You can read all about this brush in my review. For some reason, in Croatia this brush costs around $9, so I stocked up another one. I use it for liquid foundation, loose and compact powder when I want more coverage. I’ve heard that it is possible to use it for a blush, but I think that the bristles are too dense and they would pick up too much of the product.

4. Sephora #47 Foundation brush. After I have purchased Mineral Powder brush, I rarely use this one.

EYE and LIP BRUSHES

1. Oriflame Lip brush. I use it with darker lipsticks when I want more defined application.

2. Avon brush. The brushes under #2, #3 and #4 were a part of Avon brush set I got a couple of years ago from my sister. I use this brush as a crease/blending brush. I have relatively small lid area, so this brush is ideal for this. The brush didn’t shed at all nor did it leak dye.

3. Avon brush. I use this for all-over application of eyeshadow and for blending. This one shed a bit.

4. Avon brush. I use this for a crease and under-eye application of eyeshadow.

5. Sephora #7 Small Eyeshadow brush. I rarely use this one as the bristles are too long for a precise application.

6. Sephora #12 Eyeliner brush. I use it to apply dark eyeshadow as an eyeliner.

7. Sephora #14 Eyelash/Eyebrow Comb. I rarely use it.

8. Art Deco Medium Eyeshadow brush. I use it for all-over lid eyeshadow application.

9. Studio Basics Blending brush. I use it to apply a light coloured eyeshadow from browbone to lashline in one quick move. This is the only brush in my stash which had some serious shedding

10. Studio Basic Eyeliner brush. It is a thick, slanted brush which I use to apply the eyeshadow on the lower lid.

11. YSL Eyeshadow brush. This one is a part of YSL GWP set. I use it either to blend the eyeshadow or to pack on the colour.

12. YSL Sponge tip brush. Another part of YSL GWP set. I use it to apply glittery shadows.

Sisley Tropical Resins Mask claims to purify the skin, absorb the excess oil and restore clarity and brightness. It comes in a 60ml tube which retails for around $120.

As you know, I really like Sisley products. I find them generally a bit pricey, but still worth it. However, this mask is an exception. I can’t say that the mask is horrible – I didn’t have any problems with it, but it also did nothing.

The mask has a nice gentle herbal scent. I’m not bothered by it, but it might be too strong for other.

The consistency of this mask is really unusuall. It is an extremely thick greyish paste. It is so thick that I had barely squezeed it out of the tube. I need to use a lot of it, so I’ll spend it very quickly (after using it for a month and a half, twice per week, I have spent almost half the tube). I spread it all over the face in a thin layer – it looks almost transparent on the skin, no matter the thickness of the layer I applied. On the skin, the mask feels very greasy, but it hasn’t caused any breakouts.

i have to admitt that after all this time, I haven’t noticed any difference – my skin is still the same as it was before I started using the mask. The mask didn’t cleared out my skin, didn’t absorb excess oil and didn’t brighten up my skin. It really is nothing special at all.

As I didn’t have much time, I opted for a natural look.

I’ve used a thin coat of Chanel Ombres Perlees de Chanel (white and pink shade) all over the lid, finishing with a darker shade in the crease.

I lined my eyes with a brown eyeliner – just a thin, slightly smudged line to get a definition.

The weather is horrible –  freezing – the temperature is below -10 degrees Celsius, and my lips are peeling like crazy. I’ve foregone a lipstick in favour of Guerlain Kiss Kiss Baby tinted lip balm. It has succesfully kept my lips from being dried out.

I went for a naturally flawless, glowy skin, so I used a thin coat of Oriflame Foundation (very close to become my HG). I finished the look with a light sweep of Meteorites Teint Dore all over the face and Meteorites Perles d’Or on my cheeks instead of the blush.
