here’s my second part of decluttering series, this time featuring skincare and body care. Again, I’ll separate items that are close to being finished or the items I use regularly and put them in a separate box. This way I’ll have everything in one place which will make it easier for me to actually use the stuff. On the top you can see the selection of items for “use it up” box.
My main issue with skincare is that I am prone to hoarding samples and GWP minis. I always refuse to use them thinking I might need them if I’m going on a trip. While I still plan to keep some minis just in case, the truth is that I have way too much stuff which just sits in my closet. It’s kind of like “out of sight, out of mind” – I have no idea what I have and I continue to buy new products.
Here are the photos of my collection, grouped into several category, and I’ll briefly describe which items I’ll put in “use it up” box.
- cleansers, toners, masks, exfoliators
There is an almost done Sisley toner and Avene Thermal water which has just like one or two spritzs in it. Clinique Mild lotion is my go to toner when I’m not using acid peels. I also need to spend Sisley Lyslait and Caudalie cleansing foam (both are almost finished).
I use the exfoliators and chemical peels when I feel like it and switch them often, so I don’t need to put any into the box.
It would be nice if I could finally finish Sisley Tropical Resins mask, as well as Gel Express which is half way done.
- serums, eye contour and moisturizers
I usually use a different moisturizer and/or serum every night, depending my skin’s needs. When it comes to moisturizers, one tube of All Day All Year and Hydra Global are almost finished, so I should use them up first. Next, I need to finish SVR eye contour cream and Sisley Eye and Lip Contour Gel (also almost finished).
When it comes to serums, I need to finish SVR Clarial because there’s only enough for one or two uses in the bottle. I also need to finish Sisleya Global Firming Serum mini sample.
At the moment I won’t use sample sachets.
- body care
I need to use up Eveline exfoliator and Yves Rocher Monoi oil, as well as some ancient Thalgo anti cellulite cream sample sachet. Oriflame foot exfoliator and Tender Care balm have also found a place in the box. I’m adding Nivea crème too because it is my go to universal cream which I can’t live without and I have no idea why I didn’t review it. I’ll also use a hand cream and Sephora nail balm.
I’ll probably use up one mini tube of Sisley Phyo Svelt Global. I kind of hesitated with using it because I wanted to get more samples and use it regularly to see whether $200+ anti cellulite cream really has an effect.
- oils and sunscreen
Oils are a part of my regular routine and soon I’ll write the post which will discuss my experience (which is both good and bad).
As you can see, I hoarded a bit of sunscreen and some is not even opened. This winter I’m planning to use up Clarins (since it is so greasy it will be perfect) and, if necessary, one of Lavozon SPF 30 sunscreens.
I have to say that I am looking forward to minimizing my collection. At least I’ll be able to do an inventory of my stuff way quicker (took me two hours just to find, sort out and take a quick photo of the products). I’m planning to do a complete inventory in January around New Year with nicer pictures. I hope I’ll see a bit of progress.
