here’s the second part of my Rimmel Apocalips swatches. This post will feature the three shades I really like. To see my general impressions you can click on this post.
after swatching all those nail polishes, I thought it was time for a bit of makeup, so today I’m going to show you one of my favourite summer lipsticks – MAC Vegas Volt.
First I have to say that I’m not a fan of MAC lipstick formula. When I first got Lady Danger, I noticed that it is drier but, being a matte formula, I wasn’t surprised. Vegas Volt (amplified finish) is only slightly more creamy than Lady Danger, but still pretty dry. Surprisingly, it doesn’t dry my lips out.
The formula on the other hand helps with the wear – these lipsticks really wear like iron – up to several hours without the need to touch up. Still, I would rather have a creamy moisturizing formula which I have to reapply more often.
My solution to the dry formula issue is to apply a lip balm and massage it well into the lips (too much lip balm and the lipstick won’t apply evenly). After that the lipstick goes smoothly and feels much more comfortable on the lips.
Vegas Volt is a bright orange coral shade. It looks pinker in the bullet, but translates to coral on the lips. I was worried that it might be slightly too orange for me, but it has just the right amount of pink for me to pull it off. It is definitely the perfect, not over-the-top summer colour.
The lipstick has an excellent colour payoff – one swipe is all you need. It has an artificial vanilla scent which I like, but some might find it too strong. The scent wanes several minutes after the application.
If you are from Croatia, the closest place you can get MAC is MAC counter at Marionnaud in Graz (Austria) or MAC store in Budapest. Even though there are several reliable sellers on e-bay, I do not suggest ordering on-line because there’s a high possibility that you’ll end up with a fake.
Thank you for reading,
today I’m going to talk about Rimmel Apocalips liquid lipstick range. This post will feature the shades I don’t really like (mostly because they don’t suit my complexion).
The lipstick comes in a semi-transparent bottle; the lower part is transparent and shows the gloss, while the upper part is black. I really like the container, primarily because it is made in a way which allows you to see if the lipstick has been opened. The opening of the container is transparent too and once you pull out the wand, the lipstick pools there.
The doe foot applicator is not the softest, but it picks up enough lipstick. The lipstick is scented and, while some might find the scent unpleasing, I don’t mind it.
Here are the swatches of six shades I have:
The three shades reviewed here are very pigmented and they perfectly cover my natural lip color. The lip lacquer picks the best of both worlds – it has the pigmentation of a lipstick and creaminess and glossiness of a lipgloss. It is not tacky at all. The wear is good, in my opinion – up to two hours; however I don’t like that when it starts to wear off it actually flakes off. I need to completely remove it to reapply it.
In spite of disliking these shades, I like this lip lacquer and I think this will be my go to lip product for summer. I’m not a fan of a lipgloss – they are often too sticky and lipsticks melt in heat so Apocaliptic is the perfect solution.
Let’s see the swatches:
Nude Eclipse is a very beige, skin toned nude. I am very fair (NC15-20) and this one, once applied on the lips, looks very similar to my skin tone, giving me corpse-like look. This shade looks slightly patchy and uneven if I don not apply it carefully.
Shooting Star is slightly darker and peachier than Nude Eclipse, but still too light for my skin. I plan to mix these two shades with brighter lipsticks to tone them down.
Luna is a peachy orange which clashes with my skintone.
in the first installment of Make-up Monday I decided to show you my current lipstick collection and share my impressions.
I am definitely a lipstick person, although I like the convenience of a lipgloss in summer. I prefer creamy, sheer but buildable moisturizing formulas. I’m not so concerned about how long my lipstick will wear as I don’t have a problem reapplying it every half an hour. When it comes to colors, I adore bright pinky-coral and, as you can see, the majority of my collection consists of these shades. I’m not a fan of concealer-beige nude lipsticks so my collection of nude lipsticks gravitates towards meat-coloured pinks.
My all-time favourite lipstick brand, which can do no wrong in my opinion, is Guerlain. I’ve used up tons of their lipsticks and I’m always back for more. I adore creamy formula, moisturizing properties and color range of their lipsticks.
I only have one YSL lipstick, but I don’t think I’ll get more. There’s nothing wrong with the lipstick itself, but I prefer the formula of Guerlain whichs stays creamy, while YSL sort of dries on your lips.
Other bloggers have written odes to MAC lipsticks, but I won’t be one of them (although, they wear well). Again, nothing wrong with the lipstick, but the formula feels too dry on my lips, even though it doesn’t dry them out. On the other hand I adore the shade selection and whenever I find myself at a MAC counter I have a hard time picking up the lipstick. The three shades I currently own were love at first sight.
Sisley lipsticks are on the super high end side of my collection. I have two of them and they are very good, but they don’t make me want to buy more. TBH this is good because the price is $$$$$$$$.
When it comes to budget options, my favourite is Oriflame. They have really stepped up their game and they are affordable (when you buy them on a sale). They are not really long-lasting, but the formula is great. I only hope they will change the scent as I’m not the fan of it.
Here are all 11 of them lined up:
The lipsticks: Guerlain Shalimar, Guerlain Rouge d’Enfer, MAC Lady Danger, Guerlain Nahema, MAC Vegas Volt, Sisley L9, MAC Impassioned, YSL Rose Dahlia, Sisley #11 Sheer Baby, Oriflame Color Drop Rose Elixir, Oriflame Giordani Gold Dusky Nude.
They are swatched in the same order:
Which lipstick colours do you prefer?
Being very busy the past week, a quick trip to Austria was a welcomed vacation. Of course, when I’m in Austria I can’t not go to the MAC store (actually a counter at Marionnaud) and this time was not different. So far all my visits to MAC stores resulted in only one lipstick (I have way too much eyeshadows and blushes and I have cheaper brush options which work fine for me), but this one made up for all the times I’ve been there and bought nothing.
Recently I created an inventory and with that in mind I decided to get (mostly) the products I need. I had several more items on the list (the one I didn’t buy) which were an eyeshadow in Vex (but I have a bunch of eyeshadows), blush in Harmony for contouring (but I recently found my perfect contouring product and I’ll show it to you the next week) and Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightcdscapade (but I kind of decided that it looks too shimmery and that, if I get a highlighter, it will be Shiseido).
I got two face products: Pro Longwear concealer in NC15. My Lancôme Effacernes will finally be finished (it’s about time, I’ve had it for like 10 years). The bonus is that it only contains 9ml so I hope it will take me less than 10 years to finish it :)
My skin is reacting to dry winter air by being even more oilier, so I bought MAC Blot powder in the shade Light. I’ve heard raves about it all over the internet so I hope it will live up to expectation.
By the way, I finally know which is my MAC foundation shade – it is NC15; it will be useful for future foundation references.
Uzela sam Pro Longwear korektor u nijansi NC15.
I couldn’t resist getting more lipsticks. This time I got two shades: Impassioned (warm bright pink) and Vegas Volt (orange coral). These are Amplified line, so I hope it will be less fussy than matte line. The colors are not really true to nature – it is dark and cloudy so I couldn’t get a decent light.
Have you tried some of these products? What other MAC products would you recommend?
Uzela sam još par ruževa: Impassioned (topla jarka roza) i Vegas Volt (narančasto koraljna). Boje nisu baš najbolje prikazane jer nemam dobro svjetlo.
Jeste li isprobali koji od ovih proizvoda? Koje biste druge MAC proizvode preporučili?
Thank you for reading,
it’s been a while since my last make-up related review, so I thought it’s time for another.
Recently Oriflame launched Color Drop lipstick line which promises intense moisturizing and comfort. I like moisturizing lipsticks, especially during winter when my lips need all the help they can get.
Another feature of this lipstick is its shape – it is shaped in a curve to fit the lip shape.
Although I prefer brighter colors, I opted for a nudish one. I picked the shade Rose Elixir which is a pinkish nude. It is not too pale for my skin tone and looks very natural. It looks like a slightly darker version of Benefit’s Lady’s Choice. The lipstick glides on the lips, it is very light and moisturizing - almost like a lip balm. The colour is very opaque – it doesn’t look so on the skin swatch, but I have naturally dark lips and this completely covers my lip colour.
It wears well – two hours is great for a moisturizing lipstick.
The minus is a tiny amount – only 2 grams. It is not too expensive – around $10, although you can find it on sale cheaper.
This will definitely be my go-to winter lipstick :)
Iako volim jarke boje, odabrala sam rozu nude nijansu Rose Elixir. Nijansa nije presvijetla u odnosu na moj ten I izgleda vrlo prirodno. Podsjeća me na malo tamniju verziju Benefitovog ruža u nijansi Lady’s Choice.
Thank you for reading,
Hello dear readers,
I have planned to review Orifalme Giordani Gold Jewel lipsticks in series of three, but cloudy days prevented me from taking all the photos so I only have two shades for today.
You can find the swatches of Peach Kiss, Pink Secret and Mauve Dream as well as some general info about the packaging and price here.
Today I’ll review Rose Blossom and Plum Desire.
Danas ću, dakle, recenzirati nijanse Rose Blossom i Plum Desire.
Rose Blossom is a dirty medium dark pink. It looks darker on the skin swatch, but on the lips it becomes the prefect elegant neutral shade appropriate for all occasions.
Plum Desire is that kind of shade which I always want to wear but I know it won’t look good on me. The lipstick looks almost black, but it is considerabley sheerer once applied. It is a burgundy plum, still dark enough to make you look vampy.
Both shades apply evenly (Plum Desire a little less). As the previous shades, these shades are silky smooth, too, but they won’t stay on for longer than two hours. The lipsticks are very pleasant to wear plus they moisturize the lips.
Well, that was it for today. I hope that the weather will be kind and that I’ll manage to swatch other five shades soon.
Have a great weekend.
Nadam se da će mi se vrijeme smilovati i da ću uskoro uspjeti poslikati i ostale nijanse.
Želim vam ugodan vikend.
Hello dear readers,
as I have promised, today is the time for me to start reviewing Oriflame Giordani Gold Jewell lipstick line. I received one shade in full size as a GWP and I have ordered the mini samples of all other shades. So far, I’ve managed to get a decen swatch of only several shades – the rest turned out too dark.
The lipstick is really a step-up from Oriflame’s typicall packaging – the lipstick case is a heavy gold coloured with a relief at the bottom. The lipstick contains 4 grams and retails for approximately $18.
There are 10 shades in total and today I’ll review three shades: Peach Kiss, Pink Secret and Mauve Dream.
U liniji postoji 10 nijansi, a danas ću recenzirati tri: Peach Kiss, Pink Secret i Mauve Dream.
The shade Peach Kiss is in fact nude peachy shade (peachy beige). It doesn’t seem as pigmented – I had to pass several times to get a decent coverage, but surprisingly a thin layer of it covers the natural reddish colour of my lips well.
Nijansa Peach Kiss je breskvasta bež nijansa. Nije baš pigmentirana – na swatchevima sam morala nekoliko puta proći kako bi dobila dobru pigmentaciju. S druge strane, i tanak sloj ruža dobro neutralizira moju prirodnu crvenu boju usana.
The shade Pink Secret is the one I wanted to order, but mistakenly I have ordered Dusky Nude. Pink secret is pinkish coral – just my kind of shade. On the lips it looks lighter than in the tube.
Nijansa Pink Secret je nijansa koju sam željela naručiti, a zabunom sam uzela Dusky Nude. Pink Secret je roza nijansa s primjesama kroaljne. Na usnama izgleda svijetlije nego u sticku.
The shade Mauve Dream is a berry plum. It really isn’t my kind of shade. Also, it turns out to be less pigmented on the lips than on the skin. It gives my lips slightly darker, dusky rose colour, but it doesn’t darken them too much.
Nijansa Mauve Dream je bobičasto ljubičasta. Ova nijansa baš i nije nijansa koju bih ja tipično nosila. Malo potamni moju prirodnu nijansu usana u prljavo ružičastu, ali nije pretamna.
As for the formula, it is same for all the shades. It is very silky, smooth and moisturizing. However, this affects the wear, so don’t expect the lipstick to stay on for longer that two hours.
The lipstick is scented, but the scent disappears upon the application.
All in all, the lipstick is a definite step-up when it comes to the presentation. The quality is here, but the choice of shades is not quite to my liking. So far I’d only repurchase Pink Secret.
Have a great week.
Voli vas, Tamara
today I have prepared the swatch of one of the best discoveries in the last year – MAC Lady Danger lipstick. I have to admit that I didn’t really like MAC cosmetics, but curiosity got the better of me. Lady Danger was the logical choice, since it was the shade I first noticed in the store.
Lady Danger is a bright, orange based matte red (like a more pigmented version of Guerlain Rouge Automatique in Nahema). Since the shade really sticks out, it is not the lipstick for those who want to blend in the crowd, because people will notice it.
This lipstick is really pigmented – probably the most pigmented out of all the lipsticks I own and not so easy to remove so you have to be extremely careful when applying it. I haven’t noticed that it bleeds out, so I don’t wear it with a lip liner, but lip liner would certainly help the application look more neat.
The lipstick has a vanilla scent which doesn’t disappear as quickly as I’d want, but it doesn’t bother me.
However, there are some bad sides.
Since Lady Danger is a matte lipstick, it has a drier texture. Luckily, it doesn’t dry out the lips, but neither does it feel comfortable. I can remedy this with a lip balm or a transparent lip gloss, but I still prefer the consistency of, for example, Guerlain Rouge Automatiquer or YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks.
Another minus is that the lipstick wears off irregularly – usually the lipstick in the centre of the lips is gone after an hour or two, but it remains on the edge of the lipline. I have small lips and it makes me look ridiculous if I don’t touch-up often.
Still, in spite of its minor flaws Lady Danger is still one of my favourite lipsticks ever.
Lady Danger swatch:
Lady Danger lip swatch.
Phyto Lip Star contains 7 ml and retails for around $50. It comes with a brush applicator. As almost all Sisley make-up, the packaging feels a bit on the cheap side.
I got this lip gloss as a part of a set called White Orchid Make-up Pouch which I have found on an insane sale, so it made the price much easier to bear.
Deep Tourmaline is the second lip gloss from the Phyto Lip Star range that I own (other being Rose Quartz).
Deep Tourmaline is a warm muted medium dark burgundy red with a lots os tiny shimmer in various colours – from silver to pink, red and burgundy. My major problem with shimmering lip glosses is that the shimmer feels gritty (even when it comes to the high-end lip glosses). Fortunately, this is not the case with Sisley – I cannot feel grittiness at all. Another bonus is that when it fades, it fades evenly, so you are not left with shimmer on dried out lips.
The lip gloss feels slightly heavy on my lips, but it is not sticky. In this weather heaviness is a bonus, because the lip gloss doesn’t budge for hours, so it protects my lips, too.
The lip gloss is pretty pigmented, although on my lips this is a bit hard to see, because it is practically the same shade as my natural lip colour.
I also have to warn that the lip gloss has a pretty strong fruity scent. The scent has grow on me, but some might not like it.
Overall, this is my go-to sparkly lip gloss and I still think that it is one of the best sparkly lip glosses on the market.
P.S. I haven’t put the photo of the lip swatch, because I couldn’t get any even half-acceptable photo. I will upload it when I get a good one.
YSL’s Rouge Pur Couture contains 3,8 grams and retails for 30 euros in Europe. It comes in a golden case with YSL logo on. The case is unfortunately a magnet for fingerprints.
Rose Dahlia is a shade I tend to gravitate a lot – it is a hot creamy pink with a hint of coral. This shade is very pigmented, although on my lips it looks much brighter in the tube than on the lips. It contains no shimmer, but it leaves the lips looking shiny and creamy.
While my favourite lipsticks were always from Guerlain, YSL Rouge Pur Couture has certainly given them a run for their money. Rouge Pur Couture is very pigmented, smooth and creamy – absolute perfection. It moisturizes lips and it stays of for at least three hours.
The only bad point I can find is that in Croatia, they are a bit more expensive than Guerlain. Still, this probably won’t stop me if I find other shades I like in the range
Since I’ve named this week Sisley week, it should only be appropriate to post another shopping. Other than Retinol and Glycolic acid creams + mascara and other products I have no back-up of (and maybe Chanel or Guerlain holiday quad), I think I’m done for this year. Some people really shouldn’t be allowed to manage money or credit cards, lol. Although, I wonder who could miss such a bargain.
Anyway, one of the perfumery chain had a 20% off of everything and they also offered a GWP with Sisley skincare purchase (and I’m a sucker for both Sisley and their GWPs). I got 4 GWPs in total (all four had the same products) – 3 for buying the products and 1 when I exchanged my points.
Well, I got the following products.
- Sisley Eau Efficace Gentle Make-Up Remover (I got is for $90, full-price is $120). I’m close to finising Bioderma Micelle Solution, and from the product description, Eau Efficace seemed like a Sisley version of Micelle water so it was a logical choice. Another thing that talked me to purchase it is how the water is dispensed (I’ll describe it more in my review).
- Sisley Ecological Compound Discovery set (I got it for $105, the full price is $145 ).
I’ve already used one bottle which I liked enough to buy another one. I’ll review Ecological compound during the next month because I want to remind myself why I liked it so much.
Basically, this set is worth almost double its full price if you count the value of the deluxe samples you get with it (10 ml of All Day All Year, 15 ml of Express Flower Gel and 5 ml of Eye and Lip Contour Balm).
- Phyto Lip Gloss in #3 Rose ($40, the full price $50). This is the new, fall launch and this beautiful pink with a hint of coral was on my wishlist ever since I’ve seen it.
- Hydrating Longlasting Lipstick in L9 ($44, the full price $55). The lipstick was on a whim purchase. It is another warm pink with a hint of coral shade which reminds me of my YSL Rouge Pur Couture in Pink Dahlia.
The GWPs contained the following products:
30 ml of Floral Toner
30 ml of Lyslait
10 ml of All Day All Year
10 ml of Black Rose mask
8 ml of Soir de Lune Body Lotion (I wonder if they’d ever stop giving this)
3 ml of Sisleya Radiance Concentrate
5 ml of Instant Perfect Primer
2 ml of Skinleya foundation
This shopping was a total bargain. For the total of approximately $280 I have spent on Sisley, I got additional over $1000 worth products, out of which 80% are my favourites and the rest are the products I’ve wanted to try for ages.
However, this means that besides the essentials, I shouldn’t purchase much more.
I have barely put my collection back under control and this has set me back for several months.
The last purchase is from Chanel. Even though I’m disappointed with how long (or better, how short) the Illusion d’Ombre eyeshadow lasts, I got another one. Currently my days are very busy and I appreciate every second of sleep, so my make-up routine is minimized. For that reason I got the shade Emerveille (pearly pink), so that I can only slap it on the lids, without bothering with primers and zillion other shadows.
Since it was suggested to me that I stored Mirifique in a wrong way, I’m storing Emerveille on the lid from the beigning. After six months I’ll update if this has taken any effect.
As for Mirifique – I put a drop of Duraline in it every time I use it and it works that way, although the shade is not as dymensional – there is no silvery sparkle.
Thank you for reading :)
You can share your recent purchases in the comments.
Sisley Phyto Lip Shine lipstick stood ignored in my traincase for some time, but having finished the majority of nude shades I’ve had, I’m ready to use it again.
Sisley Phyto Lip Shine lipstick has 3 grams (less that average) and retails for $50.
It comes with a black velvet pouch.
Sheer Baby is a nudeish peachy pink shade with tiny golden shimmer which is visible under certain angles. Even though the name claims that it is sheer, I wouldn’t say so – 2 coats give a pretty decent opacity and cover my natural lip colour very well.
The lipstick has a slightly weird taste. I can’t describe it, but it bothers me slightly.
The texture and consistency of this lipstick are not as creamy and smooth like, let’s say Guerlain Rouge Automatique or YSL Rouge Pur Couture. Phyto Lip Shine is moisturizing, but it has a slightly waxy feeling to it and it feels heavy on the lips. However, this waxy appearance is a bonus during winter, when it successfully protects the lips from the cold wind.
The lipstick is very longlasting – it lasts for 3-4 hours if I don’t drink or eat.
I’ll probably repurchase it again because this shade is a good neutral/nude lip shade which doesn’t wash me out.
Rouge d’Enfer is my third Rouge Automatique and the only red in my collection. I have to admit that what made me pick exactly this shade among several reds is the name.
I’m a huge fan of all Guerlain lipstick formulas (with the exception of Rouge G, which is a bit too drying for my lips).
Rouge d’Enfer is in my opinion a universally flattering neutral red – neither too pink nor too orange.
The formula is silky, moisturizing and very pigmented – one swipe deposits a truly rich colour. As for the wear – it is pretty good – three hours if I don’t eat or drink too much.
The lipstick almost doesn’t bleed, but just to be on the safe side, I’d suggest using the lip liner. I’ve done a swatch without the liner, since I don’t have a red one.
When it comes to Rouges Automatique, I only have the problem with the packaging. While the packaging is pretty, it is very impractical – you need to pull out almost the whole bullet to apply the lipstick.
This shade will fit everyone and for every occasion being neither too bright nor too vampy. The perfect shade to add a bit of glamour to your life :)
After the success of Rouge Automatique, Guerlain has launched a shiny version.
Shine Automatique comes in the same packaging as Rouge Automatique and retails for $35. There are 12 shades available:
200 Sous Le Vent
201 Vague Souvenir
220 Pour Troubler
221 Rouge De Damas
260 Jardin de Bagatelle
261 Rose Impérial
262 Extrait de Rose
263 A la Parisienne
264 Rose Pompon
265 Pao Rosa
I have tested several on-counter and to me it seems like an improver version of Kiss Kiss Shine (I loved those). Some shades come sheer (as it is to be expecteed), but some are so pigmented that they would comfortably fit into the Rouge Automatique Range.
The finish is shiny – the lipstick contains the shimmer which transforms to a watery effect /(as if your lips are wet).
They feel very comfortable on the lips. I’m definitely planning to add several of those to my collection. I have my eyes on the following shades:
#220 Pour Troubler, although I’m not sure I need another red after purchasing Rouge Automatique Rouge d’Enfer.
#240 Pamplelune. This one will almost 100% find the place in my collection.
#263 A la Parisienne. Another almost 100% sure addition to my collection.
There is a tie between #260 Jardin de Bagatelle and #261 Rose Impérial. I’ll probably add one of those too, when I see which looks better on my complexion.
When it comes to lipsticks, Guerlain is my no 1 choice. I’ve previously owned Rouge Automatique in Nahema and I was so happy with it that I have expanded my collection with two other shades. I actually wanted to buy even more, but the majority of the shades coud be classified as my-lips-but-better shade, or they are too vampy for me. In this post I’ll review one of the shades I have bought: Shalimar.
Shalimar a bright fuchsia shade with no visible shimmer on the lips. It is very pigmented and applied on the lips it looks glossy. If I’m not mistaken, this is the shade that Natalia Vodianova wears on the promo photo ofor Rouge Automatique.
The quality of this lipstick is amazing – it is longwearing (up to 4 hours), creamy and moisturizing.
The packaging has both pluses and miniuses. I really like that I can apply the lipstick with practically one hand and I don’t have to worry where I put the lipstick cap (I always spend a couple of minutes looking for the cap). However, the packagin, while innovative, comes in a way when you apply the lipstick. You have to pull almost the whole bullet out, or you’ll smear the packaging.
I would also like to suggest a very similar lipstick from Oriflame: Wonder Colour lipstick in Pink Lady.
The reason why I don’t buy much of drugstore make-up is not because of its bad quality (actually, the quality of drugstore make-up has improved immensely), but to prevent me hoarding much make-up (FAIL!) and because in Croatia drugstore items are not sealed or protected in any way, so anyone can stick their fingers into it.
One od the drugstore chains has a deal where you buy 2 Catrice products and you get a nail polish for free. I love Catrice nail polishes as I wanted to get two to get one more, but there was not much choice so I had to find some other item. I have remembered that there was a huge rave over Catrice lipsticks and after swatching some, the shade $210 Kiss Kiss Hibiskiss was the absolute winner. I’m in love ♥.
Catrice Lipsticks come in a heavy plastic packaging. In my hand they feel like they are high end (and the quality is comparable, too). Ultimate Shine Lipsticks are in silver. The lipstick retails for approximately $6 (4 euros) and you get 3,5 grams of products.
All the lipsticks from Ultimate Shine line are supposed to be very shiny and moisturizing.
The shade #210 Kiss Kiss Hibiskiss is a hot bright pink which leans slightly to the warmer, coral side. It contains no visible shimmer.
I was pleasantly surprised with the pigmentation of this shade – it is amazing. Only one thin coat is necessary to completely cover my lips (and they are pretty pigmented to begin with).
The texture is amazing: it is very creamy and moisturizing. It delivers to every claim it makes. This, however, doesn’t effect the wear – I find it that this lipstick lasts for at least four hours.
I find that this beats the majority, if not all high-end lipsticks. The only high-end lipsticks that can compare to this are Guerlain Rouge Automatique (over $30). Catrice Ultimate Shine for approximately $6 is the real winner.
This is the last one (at least until my birthday), I promise. Bioderma exfoliator was a necessity, Sisley eyeshadow my long-time wish, but the rest is purely impulse purchase (I hope I won’t regret it).
I’ve bought way too much stuff and spent too much, but thankfully Sisley GWP makes it less painful.
So, first the skincare.
As I have mentioned, Bioderma Sebium Exfoliating Purifying Gel was a necessity as I have spent my Sisley Crème Gommante and I have found myself without an exfoliator.
However there was a Bioderma promo at the pharmacy and the SA turned my attention towards Bioderma Purifying Correcting Care which came with a free Bioderma Sebium H2O Micelle Solution (value $13. I also got a samples of Bioderma Pore Refiner, Bioderma Sebium Hydra Moisturizing Cream, Bioderma Sebium Serum and Bioderma Photoderm AKN spf 30 sunscreen.
I can’t wait to try the products. From my experience so far, Bioderma is an excellent skincare line and I wonder why haven’t I tried it before.
Now onto the make-up (and a bit of skincare).
Sisley had a GWP promo and since I’ve been lemming Sisley Phyto Ombre Eclat Eyeshadow #17 Stardust for ages, this was chance to finally get it.
The GWP was a mini set for oily skin:
Cleansing Milk with Sage (30ml) – I love it.
Grapefruit Toning Lotion (30ml)
Radiant Glow Express Mask (15ml) – wanted to try it for ages.
Hydra Global Cream (10ml)
Tropical Resins Complex (4ml) – I already have the full-size, but the sample will be good for travelling.
Phyto Teint Eclat foundation #3 (2ml) – too dark, but I will use it during summer.
I have wanted to get Sisley lipstick, but there weren’t any in stock, so I’ve browsed other counters and found Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture in #17. It was impulse, but I’m in love with that shade.
While I was at YSL counter, I have also tried the new Rouge Pur Couture Laque and I’m disappointed. My disappointment mainly stems from the fact that, based on the packaging, I have expected them to be YSL’s version of Chanel Rouge Allure Laque – that is a liquid pigmented lipstick which has glossy finish. Unfortunately, YSL can be described as a lip tint. The colours are gorgeous, but they are very sheer. However, they are very longlasting – I had to wash my hands several time with the soap to completely remove the stains.
I have also tested Clarins Gloss Prodige – it is very pigmented, but what puts me off is extremely strong fruity scent.
Anyway, I hope that I have satisfied my shopping impulses for a while.
Thank you for reading.
P.S. How do you like bigger pictures?
I think it’s high time for me to start to control my impulsive purchases and redirect the money I spend on cosmetics I don’t need on something else. I’ve had much more self-control before I started to get involved in beauty community. Before, I’d purchase something only when I would need it, but now I’ve been buying things only because they seem pretty or I think that I simply must have it (even though I’ll probably use it several times before the product is lost in my stash.
I don’t like feeling overwhelmed every morning when I’m doing my make-up with all of the products which I have. Sometimes it takes me literary 10 minutes only to decide which eyeshadow I should use. I’ve tried the concept of creating “looks” which would include several products and then wearing the look for the next week. It is a good concept, but this means that 90% of my stash sits there unused while I’m wearing the “look”.
I do not plan to use up all of my make-up. I’ll use eyeshadows only until I hit the pan (especially if it is a discontinued or LE product). The same goes with lipsticks. I always leave a millimetre or two of the lipstick in case I ever need to find a dupe. After that, I put the product in the original packaging and put it in my “finished products” drawer. I know this sounds a bit ridiculous, to keep the boxes after you have spent the product, but I have paid a lot for these products and I cannot imagine throwing the compact of, let’s say, Guerlain eyeshadow away.
I have taken a photo of all the items in my stash, for my reference (I’ll do the same the next year). Compared to the previous stash pictures, you can see that I have spent some items (yay! for me) and hit the pan on many others.
Guerlain Rouge Automatique are named for Guerlain’s famous fragrances. The lipstick comes in an ingenious, if a bit impractical package. The lipstick has no cap – by pulling a button, a lipstick bullet comes out. The packaging feels a bit flimsy – it is very light and fragile-looking. Sometimes I’m afraid I’m going to break it.
The lipstick contains 3,5 grams and retails for $35.
TEXTURE and COLOUR
Nahema is a true pinkish coral with bits of golden shimmer, which is not visible on the lips.
The texture is amazing: very light and moisturizing, and, at the same time, very pigmented. It wears for solid 5 to 6 hours. I think that Rouge Automatique is by far my favourite lipstick formula.
When I saw a promo for Rouge Automatique, I have made a list and Nahema was my first choice. however, later, the shade was listed among oranges, which put me off, as I cannot pull out orange lips.
In reality, the shade is very far from orange – it should be placed among reds or pinks – it is a true coral, just the way I like it. It really brightens up my face and makes me look fresh.
I have mentioned before that the texture and the wear are amazing. The formula is slightly similar to Rouge G le Brillant, but Rouge G le Brillant are less pigmented and they feel slightly heavy on the lips.
The only problem is the packaging. While it looks luxurious, it doesn’t feel so. The packaging gets into a way when applying the lipstick. To properly apply lipstick, you have to pull a lot of lipstick out. If you press too strong, you might break the lipstick bullet.
I can easily see this shade becoming one of my HG’s. I’m also looking forward to trying out some other shades.
