FINISHED! July Edition

First, I’d like to thank all the readers who are reading and following my blog. i have to admit that I’ve been so busy and yesterday I have realized that the second year of blogging has finished.

I’ve been looking back on my older posts and it is funny how one changes oneself through the period of time.

Reviewing some of not-so-widely known brands was one of reasons for which I have started blogging, and while this still remains true, some of my attitude towards blogging has changed.

I remember how much stuff I have accumulated during my first year as a beauty blogger. I would often find myself in the store purchasing something thinking „I really don’t need it, but I would like to review it on my blog“ and ending up with the product which wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t something I really needed.

As the time flies, I realize that I have changed my attitude towards make-up and cosmetics in general. Today, I have a much clearer perception of what I want and need and what I do not. I’m more focused on purchasing essentials and products that will work for me, rather than purchasing something that has a gorgeous packaging (although I may cave in from time to time).

It seems that I less and less willing to settle for the second best. However, the quest for THE product lasta a long time. I’ve been hunting THE blush for a year and I have yet to narrow the choice down (this is what lists are for). Luckily, this means that I have enough time to finish with the products I already have.

Project 10 Pans and Sample Challenge Update #4

It’s been ages from my last update. I can’t believe it took me so long to finally spend all of these products. However, I haven’t been as disciplined when it comes to the new purchases. I’ve got several nailpolishes and a primer. I’m also planning on a foundation purchase (even thought I have half a bottle of Clarins Everlasting and half a bottle of Dior Airflash) if the foundation I’m currently testing proves it is worth it.

DIPTYQUE L’Eau de Tarocco Review

For some reason it reminds me of Rance 1795 Le Vainqueur. not so much because of the scent itself. More probably because it is one of the rare citruses I can stand.

As you spray it, it bursts with a sickeningly lemon juice scent. My first impression was on no, another horrible citrus. After only a minute, the citrus is subdued by incense and musk.

This is a truly unisex scent – it will smell good on both females and males. It is fresh and clean, but without being too cold. I can see myself wearing it in summer – it would be a nice antithesis to the exotic burst of sweet floral in Montale Intense Tiare.

The only shame is that it is eau de cologne, so it is not as longlasting as I would like. But still it is very impressive.

 

DIPTYQUE L’Ombre dans L’Eau Body Lotion Review

L’Ombre dans L’Eau Body Lotion is a lightweight perfumed body milk. It is scented with the L’Ombre dans L’Eau fragrance. The full-size comes in a 250ml bottle and it retails for cca $40. There is also a travel set available, which contains 100ml of body lotion and 100 ml of shower gel.

I have two 10ml samples of Diptyque L’Ombre dans L’Eau body lotion. So far I have only spent one – it was enough for 2 applications on the legs only and 2 applications on the whole body

This body lotion is absolutely the best I have tried so far (I usually hate body lotions as I find them too sticky and not especially helpful). The consistency of L’Ombre dans L’Eau body lotion is very light. It spreads easily and a little goes a long way. It sinks into the skin immediately, so this means that there is no waiting while the lotion sinks in. It leaves the skin extremely moisturized.

The only thing that bothers me a bit is the fact that the scent of this body milk is a bit too strong for my liking. The scent itself is very unusual: to me it smells like a bouquet of herbs. I’ve heard from some people that it reminds them on the scent of tomato leaves. I can see why they would think this, but this scent is much more refreshing than the scent of tomatoes. The rose in the scent is discernible only after several hours and only if you closely sniff the skin. However, don’t expect a typical rose – there is none of the sweetness – it slightly reminds me of Creed 2000 Fleurs, which contains a spicier rose. The fragrance lingers well into the morning.

L’Ombre dans L’Eau is a great body lotion, but the fragrance can be a bit overwhelming. I’ll have to browse Diptyque range to find a lotion with slightly gentler scent.

Project 10 Pans Samples Challenge

During spring, I’ve made a plan of finally finishing some products from my stash. I haven’t updated it for a while, but it is only because I haven’t managed to spend anything. Later I have also announced a possibility to include more samples in the challenge.

Last week I have finally managed to find some time so I’ve been rearranging my cosmetics storage and I have figured out that I have tons of samples and testers. As I’m a bit afraid that they don’t go bad, I’ve picked several products I would like to spend. Some of these are already reviewed, as I’ve been using them before, but some I’ll have to test for the first time. I will only write a review if the product was tested for at least a week of daily usage.
