I hate body moisturizers, body lotions or body creams and Dove Pro Age body lotion encompasses all the characteristics of body lotions that I hate.
The lotion has 250 ml and in my country it retails for around $5. Even though my body skin is very dry and I should use some lotion, almost 95% of those I have tried were horrible (the exception is Sisley Creme Reparatrice, but its price is outrageous).I’ve picked this lotion because the sticker on the front stated that it contains AHA and I thought that it would be nice to get a mild exfoliation + moisture.
First, I’ll start with a good thing: the scent. It is nothing special, but it is by far the best feature of this lotion. It is very fruity and reminds me of Juicy Fruits chewing gums. I have to warn you that the smell is extremely strong and that it lingers for a very long time (over 12 hours).
The texture of this lotion is very runny, and you don’t need much for the body. As for the moisturizing part – it is so-so. I can’t say that I have noticed a great difference.
Now, the bad stuff. Dove Pro Age body lotion doesn’t sink in. I can massage it in for half an hour if I like, but it still won’t sink in completely. While this is a good feature in anticellulite product (as it forces you to massage the cellulite out), I do not appreciate the fact that, instead of just putting it on, I have to spend half an hour every evening trying to make the lotion to absorb.
Also, the lotion is extremely sticky. I put it in the evening, say 10 PM, and wake up the next day at 9AM and I’m still sticky.
And the last – the lotion leaves a layer on the skin. I don’t know how to describe it best, but every evening when I have a bath, the lotion just washes off. What I want to say is that lotion wasn’t absorbed in the skin – it just stayed on the skin as a thin layer, and the minute it came in the contact with water, it started to wash off. The water in my tub becomes milky white because of the lotion.
In the end, I can only conclude that I still hate body lotions.
